COMMAND MODULE (HEAD OF STATION'S QUARTERS) OF THE "NORTH POLE" DRIFTING STATION

    • Head of station's quarters are located in a separate cabin (tent).
    • Usually the cabin is located close to the mess hall.
    • Head of station's cabin is heated with fuel oil, like other living quarters.
    • The cabin includes a desk, a table, a safe for document storage, a telephone for connection with other station's locations, a photocopier, a satellite communication system.
    • The head of station is responsible for overall management of the expedition, therefore he is excused from shift duties, but always participates in station wide projects and emergency work.
    • Sometimes the head of station's cabin is connected in a unit with the doctor's quarters, and a connecting room in between.
    • A dial showing the station's location is placed on the door of the head of station's cabin.
